Way Back When…..

At what point does it become cool or nostalgic to reminice about the past with our friends? ” yo do you remember captain planet? how bout secrets of the hidden temple?” ” yeah man those shows kicked @ss.” At what age or cultural point does some switch flip and it become a “thing” to remember all the things we did. And think about how all the shows on tv now suck, like the huge impact that manga is having on the youngsters tv nowadays. Naruto, i mean c’mon that show sucks. All the shows that todays 8 -12 year olds watch suck. But when they turn eighteen or twenty one they will be looking back on those shows with the same starry eyed nostalgic wonder and warmth as i do when i think about teenage mutant ninja turtles or power rangers or Guts! or Rockos modern life or aaaaah real monsters. These showed shape me onto who i am and objectively these shows are ten times better than the crap todays generation is watching. I think we need to do a sociological experiment to see if this is true. for the next generation we should make the only tv shows they are able to watch simply a picture of condiments. they would tune in to watch the ketchup show which would be a camera rotating around a ketchup bottle then quickly switch to the mayonaise show during the commercial break and flip back and forth. Twenty years later we will observe them and see if the gather around and talk like “dude, do you remember the ketchup show? or how bout BBQ sauce hour? dude those shows were awesome.” If they do say stuff like this then we know it simply is a matter of an internal switch that flips that no matter what was on tv they will talk about it but if they have the sense not to reminice about the mustard show, then it actually is dependant on whether the shows were any good. Oh and by the way…. Captain Planet kicked major ass.
